Hotels

Lodging alternatives are plentiful in Fort Lauderdale.  There are many hotel properties in a range of prices in the general area of the race finish line at the beach, with other options in "downtown" Fort Lauderdale and near the airport.

Courtyard by Marriott, Fort Lauderale Beach
440 Seabreeze Blvd. (State Route A1A), one block south of Las Olas Blvd., directly across the street from the beach.
Again this year, the "Courtyard" is the recommended race hotel.  Rate is $189 plus tax for 2 queen beds.  Complimentary upgrade to King suite subject to availability if reserved by November 1st.  Parking is $20 overnight.  As an accommodation to the race, runners may park at the hotel on race day for $10. (Valet parking only.)  For hotel reservations online, click this link Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach or call 1-888-821-1366, and reference "PALM100 Group block".

Pre-race meeting and packet pick-up (mandatory**)
The pre-race orientation meeting and packet pick-up will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the International Swimming Hall of Fame, located across the street from the Marriott Courtyard at One Hall of Fame Drive, Fort Lauderdale.  The meeting will review in detail the race route, race support, rules and safety requirements.  It will begin at 6:30pm.  Go to the auditorium in the Museum Building at the rear of the Hall of Fame property, closest to the Intracoastal Waterway.  Some pay parking is available on site, but parking at one of the municipal lots nearby is recommended.

**Mandatory: In order to be cleared to race, all individual 100K runners and at least one representative from each team MUST attend this meeting.  It is highly suggested that ALL team members attend so there is no excuse for not knowing the rules and being penalized on the course.  Individual 50K runners may also attend on Friday evening, OR be in attendance at a similar session to be held at the 50K race starting line at Ocean Inlet Park at 9:30am on race morning.
Anyone not attending a pre-race meeting will not be allowed to race in the 2013 PALM100.

Post-Race Awards Event
Awards will be presented and runners' names drawn for the sponsor "raffle" at 10:00 pm race night, location to be announced.  Each runner will be provided a free drink ticket for this event.  Note: for winners who are unable to stay for the awards social, awards will be available for pick-up at the finish line.

Parking
Municipal parking lots are available immediately across from the race finish line at Las Olas Blvd. and Seabreeze Blvd. (State Route A1A), in the Intracoastal lot contiguous to the Las Olas Intracoastal bridge and at South Beach Park, about two blocks south on the beach side.  Privately owned lots are nearby at Beach Place, the area hotels and in the surface lot immediately north of the Courtyard Hotel.
For teams, it is recommended that you meet and park away from the beach to save the cost of parking and possible lack of easily available spaces.  Race weekend is a very busy time at the beach.  While that adds to the festive atmosphere at the finish line, it may also present some challenges for finding suitable parking.  For the race start at 6:00 Saturday morning, parking will be plentiful in the municipal lot immediately across the street from the starting line at Las Olas Blvd. and A1A.

Transportation to 50km race start
Competitors will have the option not to drive to the race start at Ocean Inlet Park in Ocean Ridge.  Race-provided bus transport will leave Fort Lauderdale beach at 7:45am. Arrival at Ocean Inlet Park will be in time for pre-race check-in and the required pre-race meeting.  Departure location will be the municipal parking lot directly across from the finish line at A1A and Las Olas Blvd.  The ride will be free to registered runners, but advance reservations will be required.  All registered 50 kilometer runners will receive appropriate details in advance.
